Planning Intern - Bicycle / Pedestrian Facilities Inventory

Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission


The Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission, a public planning agency serving an eight-county region in Northeast Wisconsin, is looking to hire a planning intern for the summer of 2017. This internship will involve data collection of walking and bicycle facilities/trails throughout Northeast Wisconsin. The intern will be required to bike the complete length of most trails, walk sidewalks, and inventory other non-motorized facilities throughout the region during the summer of 2017 while collecting information and taking videos/photos at various points along the bike/pedestrian facilities.

All equipment necessary to complete this project will be provided by the Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission. Hours are negotiable, but must commit to working at least 30 hours per week.

The Bay-Lake Region has 185 total local units of government, covers 5,433 square miles, has 400 miles of coastline, and is home to 587,282 residents. The Commission's offices are located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The project will take place around the region including the counties of Brown, Door, Florence, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Oconto, and Sheboygan.


Compensation is $7.25 per hour and will include vacation credits. The Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.


Interns must be currently enrolled at a college or university, and must be able to commit to working during the months of June, July, and into August. The ideal candidate should have experience with long distance biking and the ability to bike or walk several miles per day.
