City of Oconto, Oconto County

development. The plan is long-range (20 years) and offers a broad view

The City of Oconto's plan inventoried and analyzed physical setting, natural and cultural features, population figures, housing stock, economics, transportation facilities, community facilities and land use. Using these inventories and the plan’s approved vision statement, goals and objectives as well as cooperative efforts with neighboring jurisdictions, the city developed an overall preferred land use plan.
Recognizing that the comprehensive plan must reflect the people they serve, the City of Oconto encouraged citizen input at all stages of the planning process. Residents and property owners were highly encouraged to be active by attending planning meetings as their views had an impact on how the city looks in the future.
The city's
planning process began in December 2005. The
planning process was completed April 17, 2007 with the adoption of
the City Plan by the City Council.
